Day 7: Delft & The HagueToday was a two-fer as we enjoyed Delft in the morning with our local guide wandering the town, canals and side streets as well as visiting the Old Church and the New Church before our last Delft treat which was a fabulous Delftware demonstration. We then spent our free afternoon catching the tram over to The Hague to drink in the art at the newly renovated Mauritshuis and take in Dad's favorites - the automotive art of the Louwman museum. The trams and local busses were easy to navigate and I was thrilled that we managed to get back in time for another impromptu group happy hour to try some Dutch treats that Hans had ordered up for us.

Today's ActivityOur morning tour of Delft was a low key stroll, but in the small historic core, we managed to hit all the main sites. Most of the steps for the day were picked up walking
(and getting a bit lost) in the Hague as we visited the two museums. For the distance we walked, you would have thought that we'd have more flights of stairs, but this is a very flat country! I only picked up flights of stairs climbing them to the central bus station, in the museums, and at the hotel.
Totals for the day: 25,007 steps, 24 flights of stairs |
If I could do this day differently...
I would have tried to squeeze in a visit to the museum in Delft. But realistically, that would be pretty ambitious! We had a great morning in Delft and saw everything that we wanted to visit in The Hague with plenty of time to get back and enjoy and impromptu happy hour with the group, so I'm going to call that a win.
