Day 6: A Dam Good TimeToday was another big bus day as we said goodbye to Belgium and hello to the Netherlands. We explored the massive Deltaworks projects that protect this low lying country from flooding, enjoying countless dam jokes along the way. Our long lunch stop in the quaint town of Zierikzee was made for a lazy stroll from the center of town to the harbor. Finally we were on to Delft and and another delicious group dinner.

Today's ActivityWe spent most of the morning in the bus with a short stop to visit the Oosterschelde dam. The day was broken up with a lovely long lunch in Zierikzee which allowed us to stretch our legs and explore a bit before hoping back on the bus to head to Maeslant. Most of today's steps were picked up at lunch and during our after dinner stroll of Delft. A room on the second floor means I got to pick up a few flights of stairs as I raced back up to pick up items I had forgotten.
Totals for the day: 18,306 steps, 30 flights of stairs |
If I could do this day differently...
I would have spent a bit more time strolling through Zierikzee and perhaps enjoyed a shorter lunch. As it was Monday, the tower Sint-Lievensmonstertoren was closed so there wasn't a chance to climb it for the view, but we still had plenty to see during our wandering.
